Mandarin is a tonal language — the same syllable with a different pitch contour means a completely different word. In my teaching I've found that most pronunciation problems don't start in the mouth, but in the ear: if you can't hear it yet, you can't say it yet. Years of musical training made me highly sensitive to pitch, so my pronunciation teaching starts with listening — I even built a Tone Melody Trainer that draws the pitch contour of every word, so you hear it and see it before you say it.

The students I meet most often share the same frustration: they've studied for the HSK, memorized plenty of words, and still freeze in real conversations. My classes are built to fix exactly that — relaxed, practical, centered on real communication. Ordering food, traveling, chatting with Chinese friends, dinner with a partner's family: those real moments are what we practice.

You don't need to wait until your Chinese is "perfect" to start speaking. You just need a place where mistakes are safe — and that's exactly what my classroom is for.

Yes — completely free, 25 minutes. I'll assess your pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, and give you a personal learning plan. It's yours to keep whether or not you continue.

PayPal, Wise or Alipay. Once your booking is confirmed I'll send you the payment details, and your lesson time is locked in when payment arrives. Buy single lessons, or save with 5- or 10-lesson packages (valid for one year).

Zoom or Google Meet — whichever you prefer. We work through interactive courseware in class, and after each lesson you get notes, key audio points and targeted exercises.

Rescheduling is free up to 12 hours before class. If something urgent comes up, just message me as early as you can and we'll figure it out.

Absolutely — beginners are my favorite stage to teach. In the first month we focus on pinyin and tones: pronunciation habits are hard to fix once they set, and getting them right from day one is exactly what self-study usually misses.
